What's Included

The Process

1

Inspection

Andrez checks the condition of both headlight lenses — how deep the oxidation goes, whether there's internal moisture or cracking, and which approach will get the best result for your specific vehicle.

2

Surface Prep

The headlight housing and surrounding area are wiped down completely. Masking tape is applied around the lens to protect your paint and trim during the sanding process.

3

Wet Sanding

Starting with a coarser grit and working progressively finer, the oxidized outer layer is sanded away. This is what removes the yellow haze and rough texture that blocks your light output.

4

Polishing

The lens is machine or hand polished to eliminate any sanding marks and bring the plastic back to a clear, smooth finish. This step is what makes the difference between a decent result and a great one.

5

UV Protective Coating

A UV sealant or protective coating is applied to the finished lens. Without this step, the sun and elements will break the plastic back down — this layer is what makes the restoration last.

6

Final Check

Both lenses are compared side by side and checked in direct sunlight. The tape is removed, the surrounding area is wiped clean, and you can see exactly what changed before Andrez packs up and heads out.

Is This Right For You?

This service is built for drivers in Santa Maria, Orcutt, and across the Central Coast whose headlights have gone cloudy, yellow, or dim from years of sun and road exposure — especially on older trucks, SUVs, and sedans where replacement housings run hundreds of dollars. If your car is failing inspection because of headlight clarity, or you just can't see as well as you used to at night, this is the fix that actually works without replacing the whole assembly.

Common Questions About Headlight Restoration

Most vehicles take 45 minutes to 90 minutes depending on how oxidized the lenses are. Both headlights are done in the same visit, and your car is ready to drive immediately after.
With the UV protective coating applied at the end of the process, results typically hold up for one to two years depending on how much direct sun exposure your vehicle gets. Parking in a garage or shade extends the life of the restoration significantly.
In most cases, wet sanding and polishing can recover even heavily oxidized lenses. The exceptions are lenses with deep internal cracking, severe delamination of the outer hard coat, or damage that has gone through the full thickness of the plastic — Andrez will let you know during the inspection if that's the situation.
For most trucks and SUVs in this area, OEM replacement housings run anywhere from $150 to $400 or more per side — and that's before labor. Restoration gets you clear lenses again without replacing parts that are otherwise in good shape.
You don't need to be present the whole time, but someone should be available at the start so Andrez can confirm vehicle access and do the initial inspection. After that, most customers just go about their day and check in when it's done.
